Laws Concerning Carrying Concealed Firearms on Campus in Rhode Island

Rhode Island has no specific law regarding the limitations of concealed firearms on college and university campuses.

As of August 21, 2013, no public or private university permits concealed guns on campus grounds or in buildings.

The International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) has stated that “There is...a real concern that campus police officers responding to a situation involving an active shooter may not be able to distinguish between the shooter and others with firearms at colleges that allow guns on their premises.”

Keep Guns off Campus: Sign the Petition

I oppose any and all attempts to force colleges and universities to allow the carrying of firearms on their premises (i.e., classrooms, dormitories). Please vote NO on any legislation that would permit students and/or faculty to carry guns on campus. Our colleges should remain peaceful sanctuaries for learning.
